Holding On To Nothing

Lucy Kilgore abandons a dream to leave her small east Tennessee town after she becomes pregnant from a one-night stand.

She and the father, Jeptha Taylor, try to build a life together, but his alcoholism and reputation as the town low-life mire their efforts. The novel is told through the eyes of the parents-to-be as they reckon with Jeptha’s addiction and Lucy’s deep, unrealized desire to be part of a nuclear family.
